  • A weekend getaway in Minneapolis

Just recently I made a short four-day weekend trip to Minneapolis, meeting up with a few college buddies who also flew in. It was as good as it gets for a weekend getaway - lots of catching up and reminiscing while also getting to see a new American city. We were able to check out some of the interesting tourist attractions, neighborhoods, and restaurants that the city offered. Also nice was that we didn’t stress, taking time to get good rest and morning exercise.

  • International Sketchnote Camp 25
Welcome to ISC 25 Birmhingham sign

What’s it like attending an International Sketchnote Camp? From the perspective of a beginner enthusiast who has been to two - lively, visual, fun, whimsical. Expect lots of sketching, interesting conversations, new ideas, and new connections.

The majority of the folks seem to be graphic recording or graphic facilitation professionals. A few come from the education or training space, for which sketchnoting seems to have made some inroads, and the remainder come from various other spheres or life journeys. Beginners are welcome, and I found people to be open, warm, and generous.

  • Birmingham UK

I made a one week trip to Birmingham, UK, at the beginning of July. It was my first trip to the UK, my first trip to England, and my first city turned out to be England’s Second City. Seeing how nice Birmingham was, I hope to make that trip to London some day soon, but Second City certainly ranks as a fine entry point too.

The trip was both for sightseeing and for attending the International Sketchnote Camp 2025. I got in a few days early to get acclimated and to do some sightseeing, and also kept 1 day after the conference to add on a few more sights. The conference itself was wonderful, and having attended last year’s conference in San Antonio, I was able to build on my beginner skills and make new connections.

Recently I made a trip to Fallingwater and in preparation I checked out Meryle Secrest’s “Frank Lloyd Wright: A Biography” from my local library. At 564 pages, it’s epic, and I was only able to finish about a third of it before my trip. But having finished it,

Cultured beach beach culture. One way to describe a Victorian beach resort located at the tail end of New Jersey. Add in a charming main street plus a warm early November weekend and we have a great long weekend trip with my buddy Vishal.

  • Trip to Berlin

Subconscious: zweiundzwanzig Jahre später. Berlin. Was bedeutet das, und…what does that mean?

Conscious: Do I need to bring my shaver? Is it under 8kgs? scarf? umbrella? The app is saying 20% rain on Sunday. How much “geld” to bring? etc.

I met up with my good friends Michael and Eric in Berlin for the marathon weekend. They were running, I was cheering. For Michael and I, this was …
